A warehouse is a significant investment and is a necessary component of every supply chain. Businesses need warehouses that are efficient, organized and reliable.

This cannot be achieved without installing a proper storage system. Storage systems are necessary for making the process of warehousing far more effective and seamless.

In this age of automation, storage accessories in Echuca must be given due consideration. Otherwise, it may lead to errors in the storing process that can result in severe losses for the warehouse.

To find out which storage system is appropriate for a warehouse, one must first know which storage systems are available today.

[1] Traditional Static Shelving :-

The storage mechanisms used in static shelving are primarily designed to stay fixed in one spot. This is meant for storing inventory which needs constant replenishing. Static shelving is more suited for lightweight items that do not require a forklift to remove.

It is important however to ensure that the shelves are made to be durable and strong enough to stack at tall heights. Traditional shelving is usually used in warehouses with wide floor plans.

[2] Carton Flow Racks :-

This type of racking system is unique in its approach. The racks hold products at carton level and are designed to have a slightly sloping system. When one carton is removed from the rack, the one behind it slides down in its place.

This type of storage system is mostly used in the case of first-in and first-out operations which are very time sensitive.

[3] Wire Partitions :-

Just as the name suggests, these take the form of wire cages that are meant to provide maximum flexibility in storing items. The wiring can hold items with irregular shapes, for example, tires or balls.

These are most useful for housing items that require an extra layer of security. However, they are not ideal for storing fragile items.

[4] Mezzanines :-

Mezzanines are installed by simply adding an additional level of flooring within a house. It can be divided into a second or a third floor as well, depending on how much the space can allow.

The goal here is to increase the amount of usable space within a warehouse. It is typically more cost-effective than attempting to make changes to the entire structure.

[5] Pallet Racking Systems :-

This is a storage system that has become more prevalent in modern warehousing facilities. These are designed to store fully occupied pallets via forklift or some other means of automation.

Pallet systems are ideal for facilities that deal with heavy cargo regularly. It can optimize unused space by storing items vertically.

[6] Mobile Shelving :-

With higher investments comes smarter technology and a mobile shelving system facilitates just that. It is designed to be adjustable, especially when leveraging tight spaces.

Here, the shelves and cabinets are mounted on mobile rail systems with mechanized or manual tracking. This is especially applicable in warehouses that require extra security but less manual labor.

Today, warehouses are installing a combination of storage accessories in Albury to leverage different types of storage solutions under one roof. As more technology evolves, it is safe to say that there will inevitably be more hybrid warehouses.
